Can I see where my pet will be housed?
We encourage you to come on by and take a tour at Appleton Ridge Pet Care. The best day for this is on Sunday between 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Please call and make an appointment to tour the facility during the week.

I just know that my dog will miss me terribly. How can I make boarding easier on him/her?
We found that pets settle in much easier if the drop-off at Appleton Ridge Pet Care is handled in a "casual" manner. Take care of any administrative issues before dropping your pet off and avoid lengthy, emotional good-byes in the lobby. We also encourage you to supply us with an article of your clothing that has your scent on it, for example a T-shirt you slept in the night before. Your scent will comfort your pet during your absence.

Can my pet be groomed before I pick him/her up from boarding?
We will be happy to provide grooming services to your pet during the stay at Appleton Ridge Pet Care. Typically we will groom the animal shortly before pick up, so it is important to advise us of any change in plans (earlier/later than the scheduled pick up) that may occur.

I am going to board two dogs. Will they be more comfortable in seperate runs or together?
Appleton Ridge Pet Care has both single-size and double-size runs available for your pet(s). While most pets get along great at home and may even be very attached to each other, we find that most appreciate their "own" space, especially for longer stays. This is especially true the bigger the difference in age is, for example when deciding wether to house the new puppy with the senior dog. Our policy is to follow your wishes, unless we see friction between two dogs housed together. At this point they will be permanently sperated and housed side by side for companionship but limited access.

I want my dog/cat to look nice after grooming, but I'm afraid the groomer will just shave him/her. How can I prevent this from happening?
Groomers are part of the service industry. Their desire is to please you, the owner, while at the same time turning grooming into a good experience for your pet. The dreaded "shave" is never done casually, but only as a last resort to spare the pet involved (dogs or cats) unneccary pain. Many breeds of pets require regular grooming to maintain their coats, this is especially true of the long-haired breeds, for example: Shi-Tzu's, Cocker Spaniels, Springer Spaniels, Poodles, Pommeranians, Newfoundlands, Labradoodles, Bichon Frise's, Maltese, Yorkshire Terriers, Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier's, Westie's, Lhasa Apso's, English and Irish Setters and many moore.

My Labrador is shedding all the time. Can grooming prevent this?
Yes, it can. Appleton Ridge Pet Care offers a de-shedding session as an add-on to regular grooming. The more regular de-sheddin is done, the more successful you will be in keeping your home hair-free, we recommend 3-6 week intervals. Keep in mind that several factors will influence your dogs shedding: breed, time of year and diet. Give us a call, we will be more than happy to discuss this in more detail!

Will my cat be able to play with other cats during her stay?
Cats are usually solitary, which means that, unlike dogs, they do not enjoy each others company. For this reason we keep cats seperate from each other during their stay.
